  • BA in English language, College of Basic Education, University of Duhok, 2013.

Since obtaining a Master of Arts in TESOL in 2019, I have accumulated seven years of university-level teaching experience in English language subjects at the Department of English, College of Education, University of Duhok. This experience has encompassed course instruction, curriculum development, and learner-centered pedagogy within a multilingual academic context. Teaching undergraduate students in a Kurdish-speaking environment has reinforced a nuanced understanding of cross-linguistic transfer and communicative language teaching. Throughout this period, sustained engagement with current developments in applied linguistics and English language teaching has informed a reflective, research-oriented approach to professional practice.

Since 2019, I have been actively engaged in a range of academic and professional activities. These include participating in and presenting research papers at international conferences held at universities within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, as well as attending webinars focused on contemporary developments in English language education and applied linguistics. Notably, I have delivered a seminar on the role of artificial intelligence in the teaching and learning of English, reflecting my commitment to advancing scholarly dialogue on the integration of emerging technologies in EFL/ESL contexts.

Ali , S. (2025). The Impact of Technology on EFL Learners’ Writing Skills at University of Duhok: A Quasi-Experiment. Academic Journal of Nawroz University (AJNU).

My research interests lie primarily in the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), with a particular focus on the integration of technology and artificial intelligence in English language teaching and learning. I am especially interested in examining how AI-driven tools and digital pedagogies can enhance language acquisition, support learner autonomy, and transform instructional practice in EFL/ESL contexts. These interests align with broader contemporary debates in applied linguistics regarding the evolving role of technology in reshaping language education at both theoretical and practical levels.

Since 2020, I have been supervising Bachelor of Arts degree students within the TESOL program at the Department of English, College of Education, University of Duhok. My supervisory work has focused primarily on research topics concerning the integration of technology in the teaching and learning of English, an area that aligns closely with both my research interests and the evolving demands of contemporary language education. This experience has involved guiding students through the full research process — from topic selection and research design to data analysis and academic writing — thereby fostering their capacity for independent scholarly inquiry within the field of applied linguistics and educational technology, and contributing to the development of their broader scholarly and analytical competencies.
