Message of the Dean
Established in 2007, the College of Nursing was founded to meet the region's growing need for skilled nursing professionals amid rapid advances in medical science. Our mission is to strengthen health services in Duhok province through excellence in education, research, clinical practice, and public service.
The curriculum combines medical science and liberal arts with a problem-solving approach to nursing practice, preparing graduates to deliver high-quality care across primary, secondary, and tertiary health care settings. Our four academic branches — Adult Nursing and Fundamentals of Nursing; Psychiatric and Community Health Nursing; Maternity and Paediatric Health Nursing; and Basic Science — are supported by six teaching halls, two seminar halls, and five clinical laboratories, in collaboration with teaching hospitals, CSTC centres, and other healthcare facilities across the region for student training.
Since 2011, the College has graduated more than 450 undergraduate nurses. Our postgraduate programmes, launched in 2013 (Master's) and 2017 (PhD), have produced 41 Master's graduates and, since our first PhD graduation in 2020, currently support 16 doctoral candidates across five specialities.
