Since 2008, I have served as a university teacher in the Department of English at the University of Duhok, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate education. With a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL, my teaching practice is grounded in contemporary pedagogical theory and a strong commitment to language education. Over the years, I have designed and delivered a range of core courses, including Methods of Teaching, Phonetics and Phonology, Educational Technology, Textbook Analysis, and Syntax.

Through these courses, I aim to equip learners with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for effective language teaching and linguistic analysis. My work emphasizes student-centered instruction, critical thinking, and the integration of modern educational tools. This sustained engagement in diverse subject areas has strengthened my expertise and contributed to the academic development of many cohorts of students. My long-standing service reflects a dedication to professional excellence and continuous improvement within the field of English language education.

My academic activities have played an important role in developing my skills as an educator and researcher. Through writing workshops, I improved my academic writing and communication. Delivering seminars strengthened my presentation skills and deepened my understanding of the subjects I teach. Attending conferences allowed me to connect with scholars, learn about new research, and expand my academic perspectives. Together, these activities reflect my commitment to continuous professional growth and active participation in the academic community.

Research

My research interests focus on Second Language Acquisition (SLA), particularly how learners acquire additional languages and how effective pedagogy can support this process. I also explore Sociolinguistics, examining how language reflects social and cultural identities within different communities. In addition, I am interested in the role of technology in language learning and assessment, especially how digital tools and AI can enhance instruction and provide more reliable evaluation. Together, these interests allow me to investigate language from linguistic, social, and technological perspectives.

Since 2008, I have been actively engaged in supervising undergraduate research within the College of Education at the University of Duhok. My supervisory work primarily focuses on fourth-year students, guiding them through the development, execution, and presentation of their graduation research projects. Over the years, this role has enabled me to contribute to the academic growth of numerous students while fostering a research-oriented learning environment.

The research topics I supervise span a wide range of contemporary issues in English language teaching and learning. These include investigations into the role of Artificial Intelligence in first, second, and foreign language acquisition; the study of approaches, methods, and techniques in teaching English as a foreign language; and the exploration of innovative and student-centered pedagogical practices. Additionally, I mentor students conducting research on evaluation and assessment, helping them understand and apply effective tools for measuring learning outcomes.

Through this extensive supervisory experience, I have supported students in developing critical thinking, research skills, and academic independence. My continued involvement in supervision reflects my commitment to enhancing educational quality and preparing future educators and researchers for professional and academic success.
